Vava ust projector11/16/2023 When an external system is used the sound signal can be sent out as PCM (the projector decodes the audio source before sending it to the sound system) or RAW (the decoding is done by your sound system). Sound can be played through the stereo speakers or sent to an external sound system via the HDMI ARC or the optical out. It’s significantly easier and less frustrating to make these physical adjustments with a projector sitting on a table than hanging from the ceiling. They add extra processing to the picture which could diminish image quality. Further four- or eight-point keystone adjustment is available in the Image Settings menu, but I recommend getting your physical setup as close as possible and forgoing the menu adjustments. During initial setup there’s a great onscreen guide that helps with position adjustment. This is called keystone, because it looks like the keystone of an arch. If the projector’s back edge isn’t parallel to the wall, or the feet are set too low the image can have one side shorter than the other. There are a bunch of position variables that can affect the angle of the projected image. Placement of the VAVA 4K Projector – and really any projector – can get a bit fiddly. Title=More%20Expert%20Tech%20Roundups&type=articles%2Cvideos&tags=tech-roundup&count=6&columnCount=6&theme=article Ultra-short throw projectors are a game changer for anyone that doesn’t want, or is unable, to mount a standard projector. For a 150-inch, it only needs to sit 16.7 inches from the wall. To project an image on my 100-inch screen, the projector is just over 7 inches away from the wall. The table footprint of the VAVA is 21 inches wide, 14.5 inches deep, and 4.2 inches high. It looks at first glance to be an unobtrusive speaker bar. There were numerous occasions that friends wouldn’t realize until 10-15 minutes into playing a game or watching a movie that it was a projector. The look of the projector is clean and subdued. The back connections panel has three HDMI (one with ARC), a USB input, a 3.5mm audio output, a 3.5mm A/V input, an optical S/PDIF output, an Ethernet port, and power connection. Feet adjustment wheels and exhaust vents are on both the left and right side panels. The Harman/Kardon speakers are hidden behind a gray fabric grille that extends around the entirety of the projector's edges. The power button is located front and center on top and stays illuminated while in standby. There are two passive infrared sensors on either side of the lens that dim the projector’s brightness when sensing movement as a safety precaution, saving an unwary child or guest from possible eye damage. The white top of the projector case slopes down to reveal the recessed lens. Instead of having to be mounted ten feet away from the projection screen, either with a ceiling mount or on a stand, the VAVA sits mere inches from the screen. The VAVA 4K Projector doesn’t look like your typical home projector with a lens protruding from one side towards the screen, and that’s primarily due to function. VAVA Ultra-Short Throw 4K Projector – Design and Features At $3,500 it’s certainly not an inexpensive display option, but still falls in the low- to mid-range of 4K laser projector prices. It has Harman/Kardon stereo speakers built into the front, can display an image up to 150 inches using ALPD 3.0 laser technology, accepts HDR10, and only needs to sit less than a foot from the projection wall. Relative newcomer VAVA, founded in 2015, is going up against that big name competition with the simply-named VAVA 4K Projector (see it on VAVA's website). Major display manufacturers Optoma and LG announced their products during CES this past January. There’s a projector trend over the past couple years that’s hitting full steam in 2019: ultra-short throw 4K projectors with built-in soundbars.
